What Is Transformative Practice?
Transformative practice is ‘deep practice,’ meaning it is intentional activity committed to for extended periods of time with the purpose of empowering transformation.
Such practice gives us greater awareness of our habitual behaviors and our personal gravity (that which holds us back). It also promotes access to our spiritual depths and helps reveal the light of our true Self (that which moves us forward). Far more than a hobby or something you dabble in, transformative practice is a way of living, of engaging life each day.
Supports Shifts in Presence
One of the great benefits of transformative practice for those who desire to do transformational work in the world, is that it enables you to become a transformational presence. The quality of your being and the quality of the space you hold is determined by the depth of your practice. The more light you have, the more light you can bring to others.
We work with the axiom that “your transformation enables transformation.” The higher up the ladder of consciousness you go the more you become a transformational presence, the embodiment of a more peaceful, integrated, loving way.
The energy field that is created when you embody the consciousness of love becomes a mighty enabler of transformation—like the great healers, you will influence others not only by what you say or do, but as a consequence of who you have become.
It is the willingness to be a loving presence which positions a coach as a catalyst for transformational growth. This is the way of the Deep Coach because it is understood that love itself enables the healing of all that stands in the way of consciousness expansion.
9 Transformative Practices
Each one of the nine practices we work with in the Deep Coaching approach is a transformative practice (and there are many others out there to choose from). Each one, by itself, has the capacity to radically shift your inner state of awareness and engagement. If you were to practice just one of them each day with great intention and attention for three months or more, your life will change is meaningful ways.
Read all nine practices here.
For example, the Deep Coaching practice “Let there be silence.” This is not only for within the coaching session itself, it is a transformative practice with great value for the coach to work with for themselves if their own transformation is desired. Silence creates inner space for connection with the deeper self.
Committing to Transformative Practice
What are transformative practices you have identified for yourself?
Which are you committed to and which are you dabbling in?
If there is a practice that you have been doing sporadically, will you commit to making it a transformative practice?
What would hold you back from committing?
