Where Are You on Your Life Path?
Over the years I’ve had many people say to me that they wished they were ‘further along’ on their life path, and that they were living their life purpose more fully.
They express their angst, saying something like, “Why am I not where I want to be? I’ve been on this path for so long! How come I’m not where I think I should be yet?”
Finding your way on your path and into your purpose is a normal and exciting part of the transformational journey, yet it is rarely as linear a process as people conceive it to be. And this causes some despair and no shortage of concern that what they most desire will never come about.
The downside of this sense of dissatisfaction is that it keeps them from appreciating and acknowledging the necessity of the experiences the are having. And it keeps them locked into a perspective where they tend to see primarily what is missing or not yet manifested as desired.
I “Should” Be Further Along My Life Path!
In truth is, and I’m sure you are aware of this, though it might not be what you want to hear, you are exactly where you need to be. The experience of life you are having, and in particular I am referring to your inner experience, is a perfect reflection of the progress you have made.
Well Leon, you might say, that is good reason for me to want to be further along than I am! I am not exactly enjoying this time, I am not feeling towards myself or life what I wish to be feeling, and if I was further along my path then I wouldn’t be having this experience. It would be different, more joyful or exciting or flowing or creative or abundant or whatever.
In one sense, you are right. But there is another side to this issue, and that is that you may be conceiving ’the path’ and ‘progress’ a little funky-like.
The way you are currently experiencing life is not a reflection of your degree of progress on a horizontal path through time and space. It’s a reflection of your perceptions in the moment. Perceptions can become progressively more reflective of Truth when you allow your perceptions to be healed. And healing of perceptions can be instantaneous.
Heal Your Perceptions
In this moment right now, you can heal your perceptions of yourself, others, the world, the way life is. You can see a far greater truth radiating all around you, regardless of what is actually occurring outside you.
What I am saying is that the path you are on has the potential for the highest level of experience at any time. That the path you are on, the one that tracks through time and space, the one you want to ‘make progress on’ is actually independent of how you perceive along it in each moment.
I know, that’s a head spinning idea.
We are so used to seeing our path as a series of stages of progress through time and space. But in reality, the path is a series of moments in time, and each of those moments is an opportunity to perceive truthfully or to not to. The progress you are actually desiring is then vertical progress, not horizontal.
In this moment, are your perceptions healed? Are you seeing the greater reality that is now? Taking another step down the path in time and space will only present you with another moment to make a choice on the vertical plane, to see Reality and Truth, or not to.
Do you see how this works?
It means that the events to come on your future path are, in a sense, irrelevant. Your future will come about, that is for sure, and you may sit back and judge it as satisfactory or not, depending on whether it meets your image of what a satisfying life is. Yet each moment is really the key. What is your mind doing in this moment to perceive the greater truth that is available always?
If you are going to focus on making progress, make it in each moment. And then notice how each moment steeped in Truth influences what happens next along the horizontal path. Likely you will find that no matter what happens next, when you choose to steep that moment in Truth as well, it wasn’t so material after all. 🙂
